Colorado Caves
Though Colorado is known for its spectacular mountain scenery, the subterranean world beneath its lofty peaks has often gone unheralded until now. Colorado Caves details the discovery, exploration, history, scientific study, surveying, commercial development, conservation and photography of the state's unique collection of caves. And for those inspired to venture underground, listings of caves open for public tours are provided. Enter a world where few people dare to go. Learn about its fascinating treasures. Embark upon your own adventure into Colorado Caves.

A noted Colorado cave historian who has explored the state's caves since 1974, Richard J. Rhinehart is founding editor of a prestigious caving journal, Rocky Mountain Caving. Author of the book Without Rival: The Story of the Wonderful Cave of the Winds, Rhinehart is a Fellow of the National Speleological Society (NSS) and member of three local NSS chapters. He makes his home in Denver, Colorado.

Woodland Park, Colorado, resident David Harris, who currently works on commercial advertising projects, has been photographing caves since 1978. His images have appeared in numerous publications including Air and Space/Smithsonian and National Parks, as well as in the books Glenwood Caverns and the Historic Fairy Caves and Without Rival: The Story of the Wonderful Cave of the Winds.
