Black Squirrel
Red, gray and black squirrels are small mammals that belong to the rodent family. They can be found in many areas of North America, Europe and Asia. They have long bushy tails and are well known for gathering nuts for the winter and hiding or burying them for later use. They will also eat seeds, berries, mushrooms and insects if nuts and acorns aren't available. Squirrels are very clever and often manage to eat seeds from bird feeders or build nests in atticks of residential areas. Their sharp teeth grow continuously and they need to chew on inedible things like tree branches or other hard objects to wear them down. This can create problems if they chew on electrical wiring, causing power outages. They often build their nests in tall trees and two to four babies are born twice a year. Oak trees, beeches, hazelnut and pinetrees are their favorite places to find their food.

6" long.
